Ventec TC400 AOV Adjustable Thermostat

What it does

The TC400 monitors ambient air temperature continuously. When the temperature rises above the configured setpoint, the thermostat closes a dry contact that signals the connected AOV control panel to open the smoke ventilation aperture — releasing trapped heat from the building’s stairwell, corridor or smoke shaft. Once the air cools below the setpoint, the contact reopens and the vent returns to its closed position.

The thermostat is automatically overridden by any fire or smoke signal from the panel, so life-safety functions always take priority over comfort ventilation.

Where it’s used

The TC400 is specified by M&E engineers and building services designers on naturally ventilated commercial, industrial and residential schemes where summer overheating is a concern. Typical applications include stairwell heat purge, server / plant rooms, warehouses and any space requiring thermally-triggered AOV activation as part of a wider smoke and heat exhaust ventilation strategy.

Integration with the AOV system

Wired directly into the sensor input on the O Range or 400 Series control panel, the TC400 forms part of the daily ventilation control loop. It pairs naturally with the RS400 rain sensor (to close vents in wet weather) and the WS400 wind sensor (to inhibit operation in high wind) for full environmental protection on naturally vented stairwells.
