A photoelectric smoke detector engineered for direct integration with the O Range and 400 Series AOV control panels. On smoke detection it triggers ventilator opening immediately — initiating smoke exhaust to protect escape routes and stairwells.
What it does
The SD 400 contains an optical chamber: a pulsing internal LED beams across the chamber, and a photo-receiver looks for the scatter pattern that smoke particles produce. When the scatter threshold is crossed, the detector closes its alarm output to the AOV control panel and switches the external indicator LED from a flashing ‘alive’ pulse to a solid red alarm light.
On receipt of the signal, the panel automatically opens the connected ventilators — initiating smoke exhaust on the affected zone within the system’s configured response time.
Where it’s specified
Fire engineers and M&E consultants use the SD 400 to deliver smoke-detection-triggered ventilation in corridors, stairwells, atria and any escape route covered by Approved Document B or BS 7346 Part 6. The wide voltage tolerance and panel-supplied power make it straightforward to commission alongside the rest of the Ventec 400 ecosystem.
Integration with the AOV system
The SD 400 wires directly into the dedicated smoke-detector input of the O Range or 400 Series control panel. Multiple detectors can be chained on a single zone input, and the panel logs both the detector state and the resulting actuator response for the building’s Golden Thread record.
