Ventec RS 400 Rain Sensor

What it does

The RS 400 continuously monitors a heated resistive sensing grid for the conductivity signature of rainfall. On detection, it signals the connected AOV control panel to close all ventilators in the rain-protected zone. Once the sensor surface dries and the rain has ceased, the panel releases the close signal and ventilators return to their previous state.

Where it’s specified

Essential on all O Range and 400 Series installations where roof ventilators remain open during day ventilation, overnight purge or weekends. Standard practice for naturally ventilated buildings in the UK climate where unattended open ventilators would risk rain penetration.

Integration with the AOV system

Wired into the dedicated rain-sensor input on the AOV control panel. The configurable drop-out delay allows the integrator to tune the sensor against site conditions. Fire and smoke inputs always take priority — the RS 400 will never hold a ventilator closed when life-safety calls for it open.
