Ventec FS 400 Fireman’s Switch
A mandatory fire-brigade override for the Ventec 400 Series and O Range AOV control panels. On operation, the FS 400 takes absolute priority over every other input — opening, closing or resetting ventilators on demand during an incident.
What it does
The FS 400 connects to the dedicated fireman’s-switch input on the AOV control panel. On activation, it immediately overrides every other signal — detection, day switch, rain, wind — so that the attending fire crew can open, close or reset the ventilators as the incident demands. Dual LEDs on the front face confirm whether the connected ventilators are currently open, closed, or reporting a fault.
Where it’s specified
Required by fire engineers, building-control officers and SHEVS system designers on any project where the AOV system falls under BS 7346 or BS EN 12101 requirements. The FS 400 is a non-negotiable component for commercial SHEVS installations where fire-service access to manual override is mandated by the Approved Inspector or Building Control.
Integration with the AOV system
Wired into the dedicated fireman’s-switch zone on the panel using 7-core + earth cable. Up to two FS 400 units are supported per panel — typically one at the principal fire-service entry and a second at an alternative escape point. Activation events are logged by the panel for inclusion in the building’s Golden Thread record.
