Field Panel
Field Panel
Local control for the O Range AOV system
The Field Panel is a remote interface unit for the O Range smoke control system — bringing zone status, manual override and a firefighter switch out to corridors, lobbies and floor-level access points without running a full second panel.
What the field panel does
The Field Panel sits on the O Range system bus as an addressable device, mirroring the status of one or more AOV zones at a remote location — typically a stair lobby, corridor entry or fire service access point. It allows building managers and the fire service to monitor and operate the zone locally without returning to the main panel.
Manual open and close commands are subordinate to the fire detection logic: any smoke signal at the main panel immediately overrides field panel commands, ensuring the system always defaults to its life-safety state.
Where it fits in the system
Field Panels are typically specified one-per-zone or one-per-stair on larger residential and mixed-use schemes where the O Range panel itself is located in a riser or plant room. They provide the floor-level firefighter interface required by the building’s fire strategy without duplicating the full control electronics.
Configuration is handled through O Range Connect — each field panel is uniquely addressed, mapped to its zone(s) and recorded in the commissioning report.
